Specialist Health Service (SHS)

Managed by Abt Associates Australia and located in the centre of Canberra, the Specialist Health Service (SHS) provides strategic input on health to the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

DFAT posts and desks around the globe and in Canberra contact the SHS for assistance with any health-related topic. SHS responds to these requests through either the direct, rapid provision of policy advice or briefings to DFAT, or through the identification, contracting and management of adviser(s) to undertake field-based work (reviews, designs, evaluations or specific technical advice).

 

The Opportunity

We are currently inviting applications for the role of Administration and Reporting Coordinator to provide broad functional reporting, administrative, office management, client service and day-to-day support to the Specialist Health Services operations, reporting to the Senior Administration & Finance Manager.

Individuals considering this role must have excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and attention to detail; and able to demonstrate relevant experience.

The position is approved by DFAT from February 2019 to June 2020, with the possibility of an additional 2-year extension.

Key Selection Criteria

The preferred applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience building effective relationships with external stakeholders and internal staff;
  • Extensive administration 5yrs + or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in reporting, with advanced data collection and analysis;
  • Expert administration skills utilising Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Adobe Acrobat;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with and having a strong understanding of databases;
  • Effective prioritisation and time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment.
